Spelman's 2012 Career FairOpportunities Await Students
at Annual Career Fair

Forward-thinking Spelman students interested in career advancement and preparation can meet and interact with topnotch employers interested in recruiting students for internships and employment opportunities thanks to the Office of Career Planning and Development. On Wednesday, February 1, from 11 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., employers from various fields will meet and screen students at the College's spring career fair.

 

Jamilah PittsAspiring Teacher Lands $30K Award
Jamilah Pitts, C'2012, desires to leave an indelible mark on young students and positively impact the U.S. education system. The Columbus, Ohio native was recently awarded a $30,000 stipend by the Wilson-Rockefeller Brothers Fund to complete a master's degree in education. Pitts will be trained to teach in a high-need public school, be guided through the teacher certification process, and receive support throughout her three-year teaching commitment.

Family WeekendRegister Now for Family Weekend 2012
Mothers, fathers and loved ones are invited to join the Spelman College community on February 17-19 for its annual Family Weekend celebration.
The three-day event will feature a host of activities and off-campus excursions. Crowd favorites like Cafe 350, financial aid information sessions, and the Spelman Jaguars vs. Bennett Belles basketball game are also back by popular demand.

Bernice KingThe Rev. Bernice A. King, C'85, attorney, author, nationally renowned speaker, and the youngest daughter of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., has been appointed chief executive officer of the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change. As head of the Atlanta landmark founded in 1968 by her mother Coretta Scott King, she will focus on external affairs on behalf of the center.
