Leadership Speaker Series Featured Speaker is Entrepreneur and Author Dr. William Pickard

William Pickard 4(web)ATLANTA (March 21, 2017) – Spelman College will continue its Leadership Speaker Series with special guest William F. Pickard, Ph.D., author of "Millionaire Moves - Seven Proven Principles of Entrepreneurship," on Wednesday, March 22. During the conversation with Dr. Pickard, he will detail the highs and lows of his entrepreneurial evolution. Dr. Pickard is chairman of Global Automotive Alliance; co-managing partner, MGM Grand Detroit Casino; CEO, Bearwood Management Company; and co-owner of five Black-owned newspapers.

Dr. Pickard’s 45-year entrepreneurial career began as a McDonald’s franchisee in Detroit. In 1989, he founded an automotive manufacturing company and grew it into Global Automotive Alliance, a group of logistics and manufacturing companies with more than one half billion dollars in sales and eight plants in the U.S. and Canada. GAA services corporations such as Boeing, Mercedes Benz, Ford, General Motors, Chrysler, Delphi, Johnson Controls, Starbucks, Home Depot and Merck Pharmaceutical.

Jane Smith, Ed.D., C’68, Spelman vice president for College Relations, will facilitate the conversation.

A book signing and reception will immediately follow the conversation.

The event is open to the public.

Why:
The Spelman College Leadership Speaker Series is an ongoing series of discussions featuring innovative executives, business owners and change agents from various industries including law, science, finance, entertainment and manufacturing. The goal of the speaker series is to further the development of Spelman students as leaders who will influence cultures and change.
