Spelman Receives Award for Excellence in International Education

March 2017

Spelman Faculty Going GlobalNAFSA: Association of International Educators has awarded Spelman the 2017 Senator Paul Simon Spotlight Award. Named for the late U.S. senator who was a champion of international education, the awards recognize Spelman and six other U.S. colleges for demonstrating outstanding innovation and achievement in campus internationalization.

The Paul Simon Spotlight Awards celebrate a specific international program or initiative that contributes to broad internationalization on campus. Spelman received the spotlight award in the area of engagement for its Spelman Going Global initiative, an outcome-based program designed to enhance students’ study-travel experience through the Spelman MILE (My Integrated Learning Experience) liberal arts curriculum.

“The award validates the College's commitment to a culture of global learning that is so integral to the teaching and learning environment.”
